The South Tyrol wine road with its picturesque vine-covered slopes and idyllic landscape is the biggest wine producing area in South Tyrol, where around 65% of the wines produced are red. Almost the entire area under cultivation can today lay claim to statutory protection measures and bears the title DOC or DOCG ("Denominazione di Origine Controllata" or "Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin").
