Surrounding area
Just a few minutes' walk away lies the center of the small and idyllic village of Montiggl. With around 99 inhabitants, Montiggl tempts numerous visitors, especially in springtime when they come to walk in the valley, which is in full bloom from as early as February or March. The larger Lake Montiggl is only 300 meters away and offers pure bathing pleasure. Our hotel guests can also borrow the Gartenhotel rowing boat to discover one of the cleanest and most beautiful bathing lakes in Italy.
Just a few kilometers away lies the center of the municipality of Eppan, St. Michael - the perfect place for a stroll in the arcades and for small shopping trips. The cafes invite you to linger.
In addition, the spa town of Meran with its unique palm tree backdrop, where the Empress Sissi used linger, can be reached in barely half an hour from Montiggl. You can reach the city of Brixen in approx. 45 minutes. The city, first mentioned in 901 A.D. (in a deed of donation issued by Ludwig IV "das Kind", the last Carolingian), is the oldest town in all of Tyrol, the principle town of the Eisack valley and today the third largest city in South Tyrol with 19,000 inhabitants.
The capital of the autonomous region of Trentino-South Tyrol can be reached in approx. 45 minutes. The city has 108,577 inhabitants and the center lies at a height of 194 m. The municipal region covers an area of 158 km². The city is the seat of the Archbishop of Trent and the University of Trent with around 15,000 students.
Verona can be reached in around 90 minutes. Verona Arena, in particular, draws countless visitors with its famous summer opera festival, and the city's romantic streets also invite you to stroll and linger. Also worth a visit is the balcony of Romeo and Juliet from the famous love story.
The shore of Lake Garda can be reached in approx. 90 minutes. Whilst on the southern shore you'll find several leisure parks (e.g. Gardaland and Canevaworld), the northern shore is particularly suitable for mountain bikers and windsurfers.
