Max Sparer lakeside castle

Only five minutes on foot from the Gartenhotel, on the shore of the larger Lake Montiggl, lies Max Sparer’s lakeside castle. Max Sparer (1886 – 1968) was a well-known artist and lived in the area from 1931 onwards. He dedicated himself above all to the area around him. His artworks and paintings of the Überetsch landscape, views of St. Magdalena and the lives of the farmers and fishermen around Lake Kaltern have gained international recognition.
